bridging the gap between business and performance

Sir David Brailsford, Team Principal of Team Sky pro-cycling, is the latest speaker to join the Leaders Sport Business Summit in London on 8-9 October 2014 at Chelsea FC.

A legend in the world of cycling, Dave is one of Britain’s most successful and admired sports leaders. At the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, working as Performance Director for the GB Cycling Team, he led the squad to an unprecedented 8 gold medals, and went on do exactly the same at London 2012, with his team bringing home a haul of 12 Olympic medals, including 8 golds.

Joining the 7th edition of the Leaders Sport Business Summit, Dave will speak alongside the likes of Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Asian Football Confederation; Christian Seifert, CEO, German Bundesliga; Dave Coplin, Chief Envisioning Officer at Microsoft; Jeffrey Webb, President, CONCACAF; Russell Wolff, Executive Vice President and Managing Director, ESPN International; Erick Thohir, Owner and President, FC Internazionale Milano;  Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Chairman of the European Clubs Association and Bayern Munich; Ajaz Ahmed, CEO and Founder, AKQA and more, at the international flagship event.

Since joining Team Sky in 2010, Dave’s list of triumphs has grown even further. In 2012 he helped Bradley Wiggins become the first British rider to win the Tour de France, a feat which later earned him a knighthood. One year on and it was under his guidance as Team Principal, once again, that Team Sky secured their second concurrent Tour De France victory, with Chris Froome crowned winner of the 2013 competition.

Following an eventful 2014 competition, Dave will join the Leaders Sport Business Summit to discuss his approach to leadership and that constant thirst for knowledge that helps him to continuously find new ways of bettering his teams.

He said: “The chemistry of successful teams is always unique to each but I believe that there are factors common to all that contribute to that winning alchemy. Open-mindedness, looking for innovation everywhere. Values and behaviour so that both success and failure are commonly owned. The pursuit of excellence from those at the top – in our world the athletes – through to those who are supporting them.”

James Worrall, CEO, Leaders commented: “Having led the most successful British Olympic Cycling team in history and brought Great Britain its first Tour De France win, it’s no wonder that Dave’s become one of Britain’s most admired sports leaders. We look forward to welcoming him to the Summit later this year and hearing first-hand about his experiences and practices.”
