building a team of world class athletes

John Longmire, Head Coach of the AFL’s Sydney Swans, is the latest speaker to be revealed for the Leaders Sport Performance Summit, taking place on 12-13 November 2014 at Arsenal FC in London.

Responsible for a host of achievements during his time as Head Coach, including leading the club to three successive finals series and winning the AFL Grand Final in 2012, John joins the Summit to speak alongside some of sport’s most renowned practitioners, including Arsène Wenger, Manager, Arsenal FC; Andy Flower, Technical Director of Elite Coaching, ECB; Raymond Blanc, two star Michelin Chef at Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons restaurant; Geoff Miller, Mental Skills Coach, Atlanta Braves and Diego Masciaga, Director and General Manager of the 3 Michelin starred Waterside Inn restaurant.

Australia’s most popular and commercially successful sport, AFL has attracted significant international attention for its cutting edge use of technology and performance support systems over recent years. AFL’s coaches are widely recognised as some of the most progressive in the world and John is amongst the avant-garde of this new innovative breed. He’s set to join the Leaders Sport Performance Summit to talk about how he and his staff are building a team of world class athletes at the Swans, and developing and motivating them to achieve consistent peak performance.

He commented: “Developing talent is a vital aspect of performance and I look forward to sharing my experiences with a group of practitioners who share my commitment to developing performance.”

James Worrall CEO, Leaders: “Behind every elite athlete lies a team of professionals working to ensure they perform at their best. Flying in from Australia to join us for the Summit, John will provide a really interesting glimpse into the world of coaching, drawing on his earlier experiences as a professional AFL player and his current role as a successful coach.”
